What Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay said in Devi Chowdhurani’s advertisement about the historicity of Anandamath is memorable? Why called Sahitya Samrat of him?
The author says that it was not his intention to compose a historical novel, he made this statement when Anandamath was published. Although the Sannyasi Rebellion is historical, it lacks the special need to inform the reader that he has not given any identification. But he heard all around that this is a historical book and the Anandamath book is being talked about. At that time, he said to the readers, I would be compelled not to discuss the Anandamath book as a historical novel.
He has given a little historical introduction of Sannyasi rebellion in this Anandamath text. Apart from history, Anandamath has become very popular for various reasons. No other composition of Bankim Chandra has been discussed at home and abroad as much as Bandemataram Sangeet in this novel. The subsequent flood of the Swadeshi movement in Bangladesh and later in the whole of India disturbed the people of the country and disturbed the ruling community. All critics, both public and private, have linked it to child molestation. Due to this Anandamath and Bandemataram did not suffer less. The angry Muslim community has started a movement against this Anandamath book by opposing Islam and witnessing paganism in the Bandemataram music.
This movement is not over yet. In terms of literature and society, Bankim Chandra has abandoned the genre of his earlier novels and taken a completely different path to the Anandamath. Here his creation has become purposeful. In his next two novels, Devichaudharani and Sitaram, respectively, became very popular among the readers.
Many people have declared these three novels of the author as great works. From the month of Chaitra in 1287 BS, Ananda Math began to be published continuously in Bangadarshan. This Anandamath was first published in book form in 1289 BS (English 1882 AD). In 1906, Naresh Chandra Sengupta published an English translation of Ananda Math under the title ‘Abbey of Bliss’. Arvind translated Bandemataram songs into English prose and verse. Other translations of this text have been made. Translated into Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada etc.
